Are we getting snowball dATs this weekend?

Would you mind if I use your thread to ask another Wintersday in July question, rather than start a new one?

I haven't participated in one of these in a while .. is there any way to accumulate Candy Canes (not shards.. the DP removing kind) during this mini-event?

I do see that there is snowball arena, and CC shards there, and a gift giver at the zone. So I assume you can get some that way. But any other ways? Looks like the regular drops are just the normal stuff you can find in presents like Eggnog and stuff.

There should be new traders in Outposts that will take certain items for Candy Canes, but these ones will probably be the -15% canes. The ones that completely remove DP will only be random drops from Gifts, the last time they were available from traders was in 2005 (source: http://guildwars.wikia.com/wiki/Peppermint_Candy_Cane).

dAT's should also be running.

This is basically the same wintersday event we know and love in December, just that it is in July.

Also, there are no masks, finales, shard drops from monsters, quests, or missions.

Monsters are still dropping items, mind. Just not shards.

The official Guild Wars site states that the Snowball Arena will be re-opened for the event and the whole thing will be seriously lacking and completely pointless for PvPers if they didn't include the dATs.

That is redirected to the snowball arena page, says nothing specifically about tourneys in july

I havent seen a collector yet. Im thinkin we wont see one either. The only purpose WD in July serves is SB tourny/matches, and event drops.

I guess which leads me to the question.... whats the point of winterday in July??? lmao

To farm raptors of course! On the tourney thing, I remember my guild being disappointed of there being no tourneys last year too

That is only for the 4 v 4 dwayna vs grenth , the AT's are 8v8. also last year wintersday day in july didnt have the AT's

In a word, no. There have been and probably never will be ATs tourneys during the winsterday event in July.

My bad, it was very late at night when i was researching this and i couldn't remember which Wintersday that we did all the dAT's ^^

Seems like there aren't any dAT's..... There goes my hopes of reforming WoTU....

I had 200+ shards in my xunlai chest that had been forgotten about in January. Traded them to a collector at the arena for Wintersday Gifts and managed to get an assortment of all three candycanes yesterday. I don't know if there are shards available anywhere during the event tho... so this might not be helpful.

You are able to obtain shards from the Arena, you get X amount per win I think.

This isn't exactly a fail. It's running for a weekend, why should they implement the whole event within 2 days?

dATs are already programmed...and thats like 9 dATs that could have been played over the course of this weekend. instead we got 0. and the shards are pretty fail. 3 for a win. thats nothing. sooo yea i do think its kinda fail. but at least we get regular snowball arena.
